Estimate accuracy starts with scope clarity, not a prettier total.

A precise-looking number can still be wrong. Strong estimate review asks whether the scope is complete, quantities are defensible, pricing is current enough for the decision and uncertainty is stated instead of hidden.

01

Check scope before price

Confirm what is included, excluded and supplied by others. A missed scope item cannot be repaired by better unit pricing.

02

Separate measured quantities from assumptions

Identify which quantities came from plans, which were inferred and which remain allowances. That distinction matters when design information is incomplete.

03

Normalize subcontractor quotes

Compare coverage, exclusions, tax, freight, alternates and schedule assumptions before choosing a low number.

04

Price uncertainty consciously

Contingency and allowances should correspond to identifiable uncertainty. They should not become a substitute for reviewing the estimate.

How to use this guide

Use this as a project-operations framework, then apply your contract requirements, company controls and professional judgment. VegaUltimate does not manufacture case studies or performance statistics to support these guides.

The software should support the process—not invent it.

VegaUltimate is built to keep these project records and handoffs closer together. If you want to see how that works against one of your own projects, we can walk through the actual workflow instead of a generic demo script.
